About Us

My first Labrador arrived quite by chance when I was told about a young unwanted dog of 4mths.old. The people who owned him didn’t want him and if they couldn’t find someone to take him off their hands he would be put to sleep!!!!! Well, having horses and dogs plus two children what did one more matter, so it was arranged that he would be brought to me at the week-end. Sunday came and the car arrived, out jumped a yellow BITCH of 7mths old!!!! We all laughed and took her in to meet the others.

Thurba had arrived, she had a lovely nature and loved everyone especially the children who both adored her. I trained her in obedience and she did very well,winning her way through the classes. We then showed her at a few shows just for fun and she started to win with several BOB's. Of course the suggestion was made that a litter would improve her, so a new chapter arrived in my life ………

After her first litter I decided to have a kennel name so Thurba + Jen (Thurbajen) was applied for and granted in 1974.

My dogs are very much pets first and show dogs second. I breed all three colours and only have the occasional litter. Mostly when I want a new puppy for myself.

I started judging in 1984 and give tickets in Labradors, Having judged at home and abroad I have made some wonderful friends and judged some super dogs.

 I've been on committees for obedience and run training classes for all breeds and served on several show committees in the past.I,am a member of most of the lab clubs and currently serving as chairman of the Kent Surrey & Sussex Labrador Retriever Club...
